Internal investigations are significant undertakings with many moving parts. While the investigation will likely involve gathering documents and data, and using forensics to piece together transactions and money trails, sitting down with people who may have information about what occurred can be the most revealing element of an investigation. In this two-part guide, the Anti-Corruption Report takes a close look at investigation interviews. In the first part we discuss the logistics of the interviews such as preparation, location and staffing. The second part in the series will offer insights on how to create a record as well as encourage witnesses to tell the full and frank story. See “In-House Perspectives on Starting an Internal FCPA Investigation” (Oct. 20, 2019).
